Journal Requests

The Faculty Assembly Information Resources Committee, formerly Library Committee and Informatics Committee, met on Friday, September 29, 2006. Upon review of the journal cancellation list from Spring 2006, review of increases in critical titles such as Nature, and review of a dated journal wish list totally $150,000+, the Committee agreed there would be some funding available for new journal titles.

The Committee requests that faculty and students who have journal titles they believe should be added to the University library need to complete the Book/Journal Recommendation Form. This request form requires the requester to complete the following: name, phone number, e-mail, title. Please provide justification for this expenditure. To be considered for purchase, requests need to be received by Tuesday, October 31.

2006 brings the end of departmental copy cards

On January 3, 2006 there will be no more jammed copy cards.  Dykes Library will no longer be using copy cards for printing or copying.

Each department and/or grant administrator has verified the authorized users associated with grants and departments.  Each of these administrators has user ids and pin numbers they will be distributing to individuals.

When you are photocopying or printing materials that will be paid for with grant or departmental funds, you will use this “new” user id and pin.

When you are photocopying or printing materials for your personal use, you will use your KUMC user id and password.

There will be monthly reports provided to administrators that list all the user ids, the number of pages printed and photocopied by each user id, the cost of printing/copying by each user id and total cost to the department for the month.
