ILLiad Document Delivery


ILLiad/ Document Delivery is a management system for requesting items through interlibrary loan. These items may be obtained from our collection at Dykes or from another library. ILLiad contains a web-based patron interface that allows you to initiate and track your own requests. After completing an initial registration, you need only key in your username and password.

Turnaround Time

1.9 Days: Average turnaround time in 2009 for articles borrowed from other libraries.
5.5 Days: Average turnaround time in 2009 for books borrowed from other libraries.

Fees for Interlibrary Loan: ILLiad and Document Delivery

Different fees are applicable depending on required delivery time, KUMC affilliation and source of the materials (KUMC or non-KUMC).

Interlibrary Loan Renewals

Go to the ILLiad/Document Delivery Login Screen and choose View/Renew Checked out Items under the heading Review Requests. You may ask for one renewal per item; this should be done at least six days before the item is due.  Books from Dykes Library collection can be renewed for an additional two weeks, unless there is a hold or the item has been recalled.  Originals borrowed from other libraries will take longer to renew.

Loansome Doc

Loansome Doc is a method of ordering articles for PubMed users. See our List of Fees to determine costs. The benefit of ordering through Loansome Doc instead of our ILLiad Document Delivery system is that citation information does not have to be typed for each request. Simply check the order box next to the citation you want to order.

First time users must register with Dykes Library:

  1. Go to the ILLiad/Document Delivery Login Screen and follow instructions.

    NOTE: If you are not affiliated with KU Medical Center, you may use the ILLiad User Name and Password Form for Non-KUMC Patrons, or you will need to call us at 913-588-5073 to request a user name and password.

  2. Once you are registered in ILLiad,  the next step is to call us at 913-588-5073 to receive the Lonesome Doc  LIBID.

  3. Finally, you must complete the NLM Loansome Doc Registration form for the National Library of Medicine and include the necessary LIBID.
    NOTE: If you do not mark YES beside "Authorize," we will cancel any request that is not available in Dykes Library.
