Information on Diseases and Disorders
When looking for information on a disease or disorder it is helpful to first decide how
much information you need. You may need a short definition in a dictionary, a paragraph up
to a page or two from a reference book, a chapter from a textbook, an entire textbook or
an exhaustive search of the journal literature.
For treatment information you may look for a short definition of a
procedure from a dictionary or other book describing procedures. More detailed information
on treatment is included in the disease descriptions from medical reference books or
medical textbooks. A search of the journal literature can
provide you with the most current treatment options for a disease and also inform you as
to clinical trials being conducted on new treatments.
Make a selection from the list below based on the amount and type of information you
need.
