Using the Online Catalog to Find Nursing Resources
The simplest way to find books about some nursing subjects, such as "nursing
assessment," is to use the online catalog's MeSH Subject search. If you do
not find your subject in the list of MESH terms, try using the Keyword search.
Type a few key words to find a book which contains those words in its title or subject
headings.
Remember that typing the symbol ? will truncate your search term to included various
suffixes. Typing nurs? will search for nurse, nurses
or nursing, but also words like nursery.
With a Keyword search, you may also limit your online catalog retrieval to books
available at Dykes Library. Before performing a Keyword search, press Limit
button to limit your search. Select Dykes Only from the location option, then
press Set Limits. When you return to the Keyword search screen, type in your search
term.
For a list of the library's nursing journals, use the MeSH Subject search and
type nursing periodicals.
