Selection Tools
Library staff rely upon certain selection tools in their effort to build a relevant and timely collection. These tools include but are not limited to:
- reviews in scholarly journals or newspapers
- approval books and slips
- publishers' announcements
- sample journal issues
- recommendations from students, staff and faculty
- commercial review sources (i.e. Doody’s)
- standard lists (i.e. Brandon Hill List, Library for Internist list)
- catalogs of professional associations
- stock lists from major vendors
- catalogs of government documents
- interlibrary loan requests
