School of Nursing - October 11

1. General comments
a. Hurray, Open 7/24 in Fall 2005
b. Discussion regarding food - Yes there will be additional vending and hopefully more substantial food choices. Students suggested yogurt, Starbucks, ice cream among others.

2. Will group study rooms on 2nd floor remain open while the remodeling is going on?
a. Yes

3. Will the circulation desk on 1st floor remain open when the 1st floor is being remodeled and move to 2nd floor?
a. Yes

4. Issue with students who are also employees of the hospital not being allowed to access email, etc.
a. Upon returning to the library, there was a meeting with the Help Desk manager and library IT personnel. This issue was raised and the Help Desk manager knows how to resolve and will share with employees. When I received the list of students who were having problems, this list was submitted to Help Desk and library IT staff to see if the "fix" could be made for all of those students.

5. Are nursing students on the library committee?
a. No, please let me know who would like to represent nursing

6. Discussions on where kiosk should be.
a. Suggestions were - Stoland, fishbowl, SON student lounge

7. Can we have a printer in the skills lab?
a. As soon as the printer bid is approved, the solution could provide the possibility for a printer in the nursing skills lab to be a part of the network. This would be something to work out after the implementation in the library, ITC, and student service center.

8. SON has two places in mind for kiosks.
a. SON student lounge

9. Cerner software availability?
a. Just had a telephone call and e-mail regarding this software. It is the intention of IT library staff to make the Cerner software available on all student devices. Further, the client that is needed by students for home machines will also be available through the student technology page as another download.

10. Wiki as a way for students to communicate with library
a. We are looking into the implementation of a WiKi for communication with students. Will keep you posted as to the status

11. Suggestion--if a computer is out of order, take the keyboard away in addition to placing a sign.
a. Will share this information as a way for the library IT staff to note that a pc is not working.

12. SAS, SPSS, Endnote will also be placed on all computers
Reviewing the cost of site licensing SAS, SPSS and EndNote. This is being reviewed by the Library Committee.
